Our Story
We are Ray and Mac, business partners and the co-founders of The Doctor Ride, a Charlotte medical transportation company.
We have spent the last eight years in real estate sales and management, and for the past five years we have worked side by side as business partners. Real estate taught us how to serve people: how to anticipate needs, show up when we say we will, and build strong relationships. But it was a personal family experience that inspired us to take what we learned and apply it to something even more meaningful.
Not long ago, Mac's family found themselves in a difficult situation. A loved one could no longer drive safely, yet she had several recurring medical appointments each month that were critical to her health and wellbeing. The responsibility of coordinating transportation began falling on family members, often requiring them to adjust work schedules or take time off. Rideshare options felt too unpredictable and impersonal, and what they really needed was a service that was more hands-on, more thoughtful, and consistent.
That experience showed us a real gap in the community. We realized that if Mac's family was facing this challenge, many others were likely struggling with the same issue. With our background in building service-focused businesses, we knew we could step in and make a difference.
