Medical Transportation in Belmont
Private-pay rides to appointments, procedures, and home from the hospital, for Belmont and the neighborhoods around 28012.
Belmont got a hospital of its own for the first time on January 8, 2025. CaroMont Regional Medical Center-Belmont opened on CaroMont Parkway near I-85 Exit 27, with an emergency department open around the clock, a maternity unit, and a surgical suite. Belmont Surgery Center sits on the same campus, and CaroMont Hematology & Oncology opened there in July 2026. Gaston County is unusual for this region: its anchor is CaroMont Health, an independent non-profit system rather than one of the two big Charlotte-area names. Atrium and Novant appear in Belmont only as small outposts, an urgent care on Park Street and a rehabilitation clinic.
A new hospital four minutes from the house solves the distance problem and leaves the other one untouched. Sedation, anesthesia, an infusion appointment, a post-surgical driving hold: none of them care how short the drive is. Someone else still has to be behind the wheel, and the front desk usually wants to know who before it will start.
Filling that seat is the whole job here. We are a private-pay medical transportation service based in Charlotte, and Belmont is one of the areas we drive every week.

We pick up from home and from senior living communities in Belmont, including House of Mercy on McAuley Circle and Loftin at Montcross on Hawley Avenue. We also drive Belmont riders west to the CaroMont campus on Court Drive in Gastonia for anything the Belmont campus does not handle, and east across the river into Charlotte for specialists.
The ride that used to leave town
Before January 2025, an emergency, a scan, or a surgery meant leaving Belmont for Gastonia or crossing the river into Charlotte. The CaroMont Parkway campus moved most of that in town, and the hematology and oncology suite that opened there in July 2026 moved infusion appointments in with it. What did not change is who can drive afterward. A course of infusion, a sedated procedure, or a surgical follow-up still ends with someone else behind the wheel, and the shorter the drive got, the more obvious that gap became.
What Our Clients Say
Our Google rating is 5.0 across more than 50 reviews.
Three ways to book
One-way
We take you there, or we bring you home. Priced as a single leg. It does not include a return.
Round trip
We take you and we come back for you. The return leg is guaranteed.
Wait & return
The driver stays on site for the whole visit, in the reception area if that is easier.
On wait and return, for minor procedures including colonoscopies, our driver can serve as the designated person the facility requires before it will perform or discharge the procedure. Belmont Surgery Center handles orthopedic and spine work, joint replacement, and pain management, so that requirement comes up there constantly.
Every driver is CPR certified, PASS certified for wheelchair securement, and HIPAA trained. We use our own vehicles and our own drivers, so there is no third party in the middle and nobody to hand your ride off to.
We check the pickup before we confirm
Before any booking is confirmed we ask about the driveway and the entrance at both ends: the surface, whether there is a flat spot to lower the lift, whether a full-size van can turn around, and how many steps there are.
Belmont is two kinds of town at once. The older streets near downtown and Belmont Abbey have porch steps and driveways sized for one car. The new construction on the river side has short steep drives and, on some lots, no level ground at the door. A lift needs level ground, and there is a hard limit on how many steps we will ramp a wheelchair over. Sorting that out on the phone beats a driver finding it on the morning of a procedure.
The drive
Uptown Charlotte is about 13 miles from Belmont on Wilkinson Boulevard, which crosses the Catawba on the Sloans Ferry Bridge at the county line. Posted drive time is around seventeen minutes, and you should treat that as a floor rather than a promise: NCDOT is in the middle of a multi-year widening of that bridge, and the slowdowns are going to be part of the route for a while. I-85 is the other way east, off the north side of town at the same exit as the hospital campus.
Going the other direction, the CaroMont campus in Gastonia is roughly five or six miles west. Tell us your appointment time when you book and we will work backward from it.
Common questions from Belmont riders
You are based in Charlotte. Do you cross the river to pick up in Belmont?
Yes. Belmont is inside our regular service area and we drive it every week, both to the CaroMont Parkway campus and back across into Charlotte. If your pickup is a Belmont address, we come to you.
My procedure is at Belmont Surgery Center and they want a responsible adult on site. Can the driver be that person?
Yes. Book wait and return. The driver stays on the property for the whole appointment and can be the designated person the center needs before it will perform the procedure and discharge you.
Does the bridge construction on Wilkinson Boulevard affect my ride into Charlotte?
It affects the timing, not whether we go. The Sloans Ferry Bridge widening is a long project, so we plan around it, sometimes by leaving earlier and sometimes by taking I-85 instead.
My rehabilitation is at Carolinas Rehabilitation Mount Holly. Is that actually in Mount Holly?
No, and this one catches people out. Despite the name, the building is on Beatty Drive in Belmont. Read us the street address rather than the facility name and there is no confusion.
I have infusion appointments on the CaroMont campus every few weeks. Can you set up the whole schedule at once?
Yes. Tell us the dates when you call and we will put the whole sequence in rather than making you rebook each time. Infusion runs long, so wait and return is often the better structure.
Do you answer the phone at night?
Yes. Every call is answered, never voicemail. During our hours you are put through to the team on the spot. Calls that come in later are captured and worked, never dropped.
