Indian Trail and Union County 7 days a week Ambulatory and wheelchair

Indian Trail is the largest town in Union County and one of the youngest, and almost all of its medical care sits on one stretch of West Highway 74. Atrium Health Surgery Center Indian Trail runs two operating rooms and an endoscopy room there. A few doors down, an urgent care is open around the clock and an imaging office handles MRI. There is no hospital in town. Novant Health Matthews Medical Center is about four miles away.

Being four miles from a hospital and two minutes from a surgery center does nothing about the part that actually stops people. Anesthesia, sedation, a dilated eye exam, a driving restriction written into the discharge orders: the rule does not soften because the building is close. Somebody who is not the patient has to be behind the wheel, and the center usually wants that person named before it will hold the date.

That is what we do. We are a private-pay medical transportation service based in Charlotte, and Indian Trail is one of the areas we drive every week.

The problem here is not age

Indian Trail skews young for Union County, and the calls we get from here are often not about a grandparent. They are from the person having the procedure. The one who would normally drive them is at work, and the surgery center on West Highway 74 will not start a sedation case without a named adult who can sign the patient out and stay through recovery. That is most of a workday out of somebody else's week. Booking the ride instead is a smaller ask.

What Our Clients Say

Our Google rating is 5.0 across more than 50 reviews.

Three ways to book

One-way

We take you there, or we bring you home. Priced as a single leg. It does not include a return.

Round trip

We take you and we come back for you. The return leg is guaranteed.

Wait & return

The driver stays on site for the whole visit, in the reception area if that is easier.

On wait and return, for minor procedures including colonoscopies, our driver can serve as the designated person the facility requires before it will perform or discharge the procedure. With two operating rooms and an endoscopy room running on West Highway 74, that is often the difference between a date on the calendar and a cancellation.

Every driver is CPR certified, PASS certified for wheelchair securement, and HIPAA trained. The vans and the drivers are ours, so there is nobody in the middle.

We check the pickup before we confirm

Before any booking is confirmed we ask about the driveway and the entrance at both ends: the surface, whether there is a flat spot to lower the lift, whether a full-size van can turn around, and how many steps there are.

Indian Trail was mostly built in the last twenty-five years, which sounds like it should make this simple. It does not. The newer subdivisions run to short steep driveway aprons with the garage set behind them, and cul-de-sacs where a full-size van has exactly one place to turn. Older properties out toward Faith Church Road and Poplin Road have long gravel approaches instead. A lift needs level ground, and there is a hard limit on how many steps we will ramp a wheelchair over.

The drive

Indian Trail stretches along Highway 74 for several miles, so an Indian Trail address does not start the clock in one place. The Sun Valley end sits close to the Matthews line. The Wesley Chapel end is a good deal further. Uptown Charlotte is roughly seventeen miles and about twenty minutes when the corridor is moving, and meaningfully longer when it is not.

Everything closer to home is short. The surgery center, the urgent care, and the imaging office sit within a couple of blocks of each other on West Highway 74, and Novant Health Matthews Medical Center is about four miles up the road. Give us the check-in time when you book and we work backward from that.

Common questions from Indian Trail riders

My colonoscopy is at the surgery center on West Highway 74 and they want the name of my driver. Can that be you?

Yes. Book wait and return. The driver stays on the property the entire appointment and can be the designated person the center requires before it will perform the procedure and before it will release you afterward.

There is no hospital in Indian Trail. Where do you actually take people?

For scheduled care, wherever the referral points. Novant Health Matthews Medical Center is about four miles away, Atrium Health Union in Monroe is the county hospital, and a lot of Indian Trail appointments end up in Charlotte. For an emergency, call 911 rather than us.

I need an MRI. Can I stay in Indian Trail for it?

Carolinas Imaging at 6030 W Hwy 74, Ste C is an MRI site. If the order is for a CT, a PET scan, or anything else, it is somewhere else, and we drive to those too. Read us what the order says and we will confirm the building.

I cannot take a day off work to drive my father to his appointment. Can you handle the whole thing?

Yes. Round trip means we take him and we come back for him, and that return leg is guaranteed. Wait and return means the driver never leaves the site at all. Either way nobody in the family has to give up a workday.

The urgent care on West Highway 74 is open around the clock. Are you?

Not in the same way. Our regular driving hours run 7:00 in the morning to 7:00 in the evening, seven days a week, and anything outside those hours is arranged by phone rather than assumed. Call with the hour you need and we will tell you plainly whether we can cover it.

Do you answer the phone at night?

Yes. Every call is answered, never voicemail. During our hours you are put through to the team on the spot. Calls that come in later are captured and worked, never dropped.
