Medical Transportation in Mount Holly
Private-pay rides to appointments, procedures, and home from the hospital, for Mount Holly and the neighborhoods around 28120.
Mount Holly has one acute-care building, and it is important to be precise about what it is. CaroMont Regional Medical Center-Mount Holly on East Charlotte Avenue is a freestanding emergency department, open around the clock, with lab and imaging on site. It has no inpatient unit. There is no surgery center in town, no endoscopy suite, no oncology, and no separate imaging center. Like the rest of Gaston County, Mount Holly sits under CaroMont Health, an independent non-profit system rather than one of the two large Charlotte-area names, and its full-service campuses are in Belmont and Gastonia.
So the pattern here is the opposite of a town with everything close by. Almost every scheduled appointment that matters is a drive, and the ones that come with sedation, anesthesia, an infusion line, or a post-surgical driving hold are exactly the ones where you cannot make that drive yourself. Being four miles from a hospital campus does not help if nobody can bring you back from it.
That is the gap we fill. We are a private-pay medical transportation service based in Charlotte, and Mount Holly is one of the areas we drive every week.

Almost exactly between two campuses
Mount Holly sits about four miles from the CaroMont campus in Belmont and about thirteen from the one in Gastonia. Which one you end up at is decided by the referral, not by the map, and plenty of households here have appointments at both in the same month. So the useful question here is rarely how far the ride is. It is whether the return is covered. A one-way carries no return with it, so for a scheduled appointment out of town, round trip or wait and return is the version that actually gets you home.
What Our Clients Say
Our Google rating is 5.0 across more than 50 reviews.
Three ways to book
One-way
We take you there, or we bring you home. Priced as a single leg. It does not include a return.
Round trip
We take you and we come back for you. The return leg is guaranteed.
Wait & return
The driver stays on site for the whole visit, in the reception area if that is easier.
On wait and return, for minor procedures including colonoscopies, our driver can serve as the designated person the facility requires before it will perform or discharge the procedure. Since Mount Holly has no procedure center of its own, that requirement always lands on a building in Belmont or Gastonia, and wait and return travels with you.
Every driver is CPR certified, PASS certified for wheelchair securement, and HIPAA trained. We use our own vehicles and our own drivers, so there is no third party in the middle and nobody to hand your ride off to.
We check the pickup before we confirm
Before any booking is confirmed we ask about the driveway and the entrance at both ends: the surface, whether there is a flat spot to lower the lift, whether a full-size van can turn around, and how many steps there are.
The older streets around East Central Avenue are the ones that usually need the conversation. Houses there sit up off the road with steps to a front porch and a narrow drive beside them, while the newer subdivisions on the edges of town have short steep driveways that give a lift nothing flat to sit on. A lift needs level ground, and there is a hard limit on how many steps we will ramp a wheelchair over. If the front door does not work, we find the side or garage entrance that does.
The drive
Mount Holly is roughly 15 miles from Uptown Charlotte, about 22 minutes on the NC-27 and US-74 corridor. Unlike Belmont, the town does not sit on a major Catawba crossing, so I-85 does most of the work getting in and out. West on I-85 puts the Gastonia hospital campus about 13 miles out, around 17 minutes.
South on NC-273 is the short one. The Belmont campus is about 4 miles, roughly seven minutes, which is close enough that people forget to arrange the way back. Tell us the appointment time when you book and we will work backward from it.
Common questions from Mount Holly riders
Does Mount Holly have a hospital?
Not an inpatient one. The CaroMont facility on East Charlotte Avenue is a freestanding emergency department with lab and imaging on site, open around the clock. Anything scheduled beyond that happens at the Belmont or Gastonia campus, and we drive to both.
My appointment is only four miles away in Belmont. Is that worth booking a ride for?
If you are being sedated or held from driving afterward, yes, because the distance was never the restriction. Book it as a round trip so the return is guaranteed rather than something to sort out from the waiting room.
My colonoscopy is at the endoscopy center in Gastonia and they will not sedate me without a responsible adult.
Book wait and return to Greater Gaston Endoscopy Center on Cox Road. The driver stays on the property the entire time and can be the designated person the center requires before it will perform the procedure and discharge you.
My mother's community is listed online as Mount Holly but the address says Gastonia. Can you still pick her up?
Yes, and that mislabeling is common. Several senior living communities listed under Mount Holly in directories are physically in Gastonia. Give us the street address instead of the name and the pickup lands in the right place.
My physical therapy is at a clinic in Gastonia even though I live here. Do you drive that every week?
Yes. Mount Holly patients get routed to the South Gastonia clinic on Union Road regularly, and a standing weekly schedule is normal for us. Give us the dates when you call and we will set the sequence up.
Do you answer the phone at night?
Yes. Every call is answered, never voicemail. During our hours you are put through to the team on the spot. Calls that come in later are captured and worked, never dropped.
